Chelsea are putting the final touches to an improved offer for Alex Scott, after their initial bid of £64 million was firmly rejected by Bournemouth earlier this week.
The Blues are ready to table a revised proposal worth around £70 million as they ramp up their efforts to land one of the most sought‑after young midfielders in the league. Scott is a top priority for Xabi Alonso, who views the 22‑year‑old as an ideal long‑term option to add energy, ball‑winning quality and passing range to his midfield rebuild. The England U21 international has already made clear his desire to join Chelsea, and has turned down a new contract extension offer from Bournemouth in order to push for the move.
However, Bournemouth’s position remains unchanged: they value Scott at £80 million and have stated he is not for sale unless that valuation is met. The Cherries see him as a central part of their own plans and are under no pressure to sell with two years still remaining on his current deal.
While Chelsea have been the most active suitors so far, Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal are all monitoring the situation closely. Liverpool’s interest carries extra weight given Andoni Iraola’s existing relationship with Scott from his time in charge at the Vitality Stadium.
Any deal for Scott also depends on Chelsea balancing their squad and finances by moving players out before the transfer window closes.
