Chelsea have held early discussions to sign experienced midfielder Jordan Henderson, as they look to add proven leadership and Premier League quality to their squad.
The 36-year-old – a former Liverpool captain and England international – is available for transfer after spending last season in the Premier League with Brentford, following his spell in Saudi Arabia. Henderson is understood to be open to the move, with Chelsea’s project appealing as he looks to compete at the top level.
The interest fits the Blues’ stated shift in recruitment, with co-owner Behdad Eghbali confirming the club wants to balance its young squad with seasoned winners. Henderson brings vast big-game experience, leadership qualities and elite ball-distribution – traits Chelsea are targeting as they build for the new campaign.
He made 31 Premier League appearances last term, helping Brentford secure top-flight safety, and has previously won the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup during his trophy-laden career at Anfield.
No formal bid has yet been lodged, but talks are ongoing between the clubs. Henderson’s current deal runs until 2027, though a fee in the region of £8 million is thought to be enough to reach an agreement.
