Aston Villa have entered advanced talks with Chelsea to sign striker Nicolas Jackson, with an initial fee in the region of £65 million set to break the club’s all‑time transfer record – and directly clear the path for Ollie Watkins’ move to Manchester United.
The 25‑year‑old Senegal international is Unai Emery’s top attacking target, having worked with the Villa boss during his breakthrough spell at Villarreal. Personal terms are understood to be largely agreed, with Jackson keen to lead Villa’s Champions League challenge rather than fight for minutes at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are holding firm at £65m plus up to £5m in performance‑related add‑ons, valuing the forward after his strong loan form at Bayern Munich last term, where he scored 11 goals in 34 appearances. Villa have explored a loan‑with‑obligation‑to‑buy structure, but the Blues prefer an immediate permanent sale to fund their own moves for Danny Welbeck and Jordan Henderson.
