Barcola rejects PSG – Liverpool lead race for £145m winger
Bradley Barcola has formally told Paris Saint‑Germain he will not sign a new contract, opening the door to a move away this summer – with Liverpool clear favourites to land the 23‑year‑old French international winger.
Sources including Fabrizio Romano, Sky Sports and L’Equipe confirm Barcola has turned down PSG’s improved extension offer, frustrated by inconsistent minutes and a limited starting role under Luis Enrique last term. He sees his future in the Premier League, and Anfield is his stated first choice if a fee can be agreed between the clubs.
Personal terms are fully finalised: Barcola has struck a five‑year deal with Liverpool running until June 2032, placing him among the club’s highest earners as they target a long‑term replacement for Mohamed Salah.
The major sticking point remains the asking price: PSG hold firm at £145 million (€170 million), citing his age, elite pace, 11 goals across all competitions last season, status as a two‑time Champions League winner, and strong form at the 2026 World Cup. Liverpool’s opening bid of roughly £90 million plus add‑ons was rejected, and they are now preparing an improved offer of around £110 million plus £15 million in performance clauses to bridge the gap.
Chelsea made early enquiries but Barcola has ruled out a move to Stamford Bridge. Manchester United are only monitoring the situation, while Arsenal and Bayern Munich retain interest but will not meet PSG’s £145m valuation.
Any deal also depends on PSG signing a replacement – their top target Yan Diomande looks set to join Real Madrid, potentially making them more open to compromise in the next 7–10 days. Barcola’s current contract runs until June 2028, so PSG are under no immediate pressure to sell.
