Chelsea have rejected Leeds United’s opening proposal for Mykhailo Mudryk, but negotiations remain ongoing over a potential loan move to Elland Road. Leeds are looking to strengthen their attacking options before the transfer window closes and have identified the 25-year-old Ukrainian as one of their targets.
The first proposal was for a season-long loan, rather than a permanent transfer. Chelsea were not satisfied with the terms offered, but the rejection has not ended the talks, with Leeds still interested in reaching an agreement. Mudryk is also understood to be open to the move.
Chelsea’s position is important: reports indicate that the Blues are open to loaning Mudryk but do not currently intend to sell him permanently. They also want assurances that any temporary move will provide him with significant playing time.
Mudryk only recently returned to action following the resolution of his anti-doping case. Chelsea confirmed on July 31 that he was free to return to football immediately, and manager Xabi Alonso subsequently handed him minutes during pre-season against Juventus.
The winger remains under a long-term Chelsea contract, so a loan could give him the opportunity to rebuild his match fitness and play regularly after his lengthy absence. Other clubs have also been linked, meaning Leeds may face competition if they decide to return with an improved proposal.
Current situation: Chelsea ❌ rejected Leeds’ first loan proposal; talks are continuing; Mudryk is reportedly open to the move; and there is no confirmed deal yet.
