Manchester City and Barcelona have reached a full agreement for the transfer of Rodri on Sunday 16 August 2026, hours after City’s Community Shield defeat to Arsenal .
The 30‑year‑old Spain captain — 2024 Ballon d’Or winner and 2026 World Cup champion — had one year remaining on his City contract. He informed the club of his desire to leave, preferring a move to Barcelona over Real Madrid .
