Tottenham Hotspur have received full sporting approval to open formal discussions with Galatasaray for prolific striker Victor Osimhen, as Roberto De Zerbi steps up his search for a elite, consistent goalscorer to lead his attack.
Spurs have made an initial enquiry in the £50 million to £55 million range, but Galatasaray are standing firm and want closer to £65 million = £65,000,000 to sell their star man. The Turkish champions paid around £64 million to sign him permanently last summer, view him as untouchable for less than that figure, and have no pressure to sell with three years still remaining on his contract.
Sources close to the deal say Tottenham are confident personal terms should not be a major hurdle if they can bridge the fee gap – Osimhen is keen on a return to the Premier League and sees De Zerbi’s project as appealing. The move comes as Richarlison’s future remains uncertain and the club look for reliable competition and quality alongside Dominic Solanke up front.
However, no formal bid has yet been submitted and direct talks between the two clubs are only just beginning. Any deal could also depend on Spurs generating funds from outgoing players after a heavy summer spend, while Chelsea, Manchester United and Atlético Madrid are all monitoring the situation closely.
