DONE DEAL: Manchester United Agree £70m Carlos Baleba Transfer
Manchester United have reached an agreement with Brighton & Hove Albion to sign Carlos Baleba, with the midfielder now closing in on his move to Old Trafford. Sky Sports reports the clubs have agreed a deal worth £70 million.
The package is reported to be £65 million upfront plus £5 million in add-ons, bringing an end to United’s pursuit of the 22-year-old Cameroon international. Baleba is now expected to undergo his Manchester United medical before completing the remaining formalities.
Baleba has been on Manchester United’s radar for some time, with the club identifying his athleticism, ball-winning ability and powerful carrying as qualities that could strengthen their midfield.
The midfielder joined Brighton from Lille in 2023 and has since developed into one of the Premier League’s highly rated young midfielders. He can operate as a defensive midfielder or box-to-box central midfielder, giving United additional options through the middle.
A five-year contract had already been prepared for Baleba while negotiations between the two clubs progressed.
