Manchester United have placed Bournemouth’s Tyler Adams firmly on their summer shortlist – but no formal talks or bids have been made as they continue to prioritise top targets Manu Kone and Carlos Baleba.
The United hierarchy see the 27-year-old US international as a high-value, cost-effective Plan B option, with a fee in the region of £30–35m expected to secure his services – significantly less than the £45m+ being asked for Kone or the £50m+ valuation on Baleba.
Adams, who starred for Bournemouth last season with his tough tackling, positional discipline and leadership qualities, fits exactly the defensive midfield profile Michael Carrick is looking for to complement new signings Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos. With Manuel Ugarte facing a long spell out through injury and Casemiro having left for Inter Miami, United have a clear gap for a reliable holding midfielder.
However, sources confirm United have not yet contacted Bournemouth or Adams’ representatives over a move. The Cherries have made it clear they are not actively looking to sell, but would consider a fair offer – unlike with top target Alex Scott, who is firmly off-limits.
For now, United remain focused on securing a deal for Roma’s Kone first, before revisiting other options. Adams’ link is genuine – but any move will only happen if their primary midfield targets fall through.
